Exnovation – Strategically ending things at the right time | PLZ80 | PLZ81
In order for new things to emerge and for us to develop focus, we must let go of the things that no longer have any effect.
Innovation has always been on everyone’s lips and is constantly celebrated: the world needs great new products, initiatives, and services. This is important and understandable. However, if we only ever offer new things from our organization and don’t “prune the branches” on the other side, there is a great danger that we will get bogged down and unable to focus. In order to create new effectiveness, we must consciously end things that no longer have an impact, either now or in the future. The crux of the matter is that no one is celebrated for ending products, projects, etc. Strategic letting go is less of a purely cognitive-logical decision and more strongly influenced by corporate culture and emotional attachment. That is why organizations need rituals that suit them.

George Washington and Frederick the Great
George Washington and Frederick the Great
“Children of the Enlightenment” who admired each other yet treated each other critically.
On July 4, 2026, the USA will celebrate its 250th anniversary. Relations between Germany and the USA have been eventful and diverse. But one aspect has received little attention on either side of the Atlantic. That is the relationship between George Washington and Frederick the Great. They were contemporaries but never met, although both developed a lasting interest in the other’s activities and also developed an unusual appreciation for each other. In his lecture, Manfred Richter attempts to shed some light on this aspect of German-American history.
The picture shows the speaker with then US President George H.W. Bush in the Oval Office of the White House beneath a portrait of George Washington.

Planet on drugs – ways out of humanity’s online addiction.
Are we all junkies? Online addiction is a global phenomenon whose symptoms can no longer be ignored: short attention spans, radicalization and polarization within society, and mental health problems among adults and young people are on the rise. Democracies and alliances of states are becoming increasingly unstable. Can we manage withdrawal? Combating online addiction is less a problem of awareness than one of acceptance and implementation. The biggest obstacle to overcoming online addiction is ourselves. Dr. Wandhöfer presents a toolbox that helps us free our children, ourselves, our environment, and our society from online addiction and once again make the most of both the online and offline worlds.

All roads lead to Rome, but which one do we take? From vision to impactful action.
Developing a vision that is compatible, convincing, and also provides guidance is challenging enough. Many managers in organizations then give too little thought to how they should derive measures from this that have a real impact. They tend to leave it to chance or the “charisma” of the vision, which often leads to the whole thing petering out. In this short impulse, Sandra Pretzer uses a concrete example to build a bridge between vision and real results.

Leadership requires the courage to be visible.
In her presentation, Marina shows why CEOs in particular need to be visible today: as the face of the company, as a role model, and as a communicator. In an age where trust is becoming the key currency, personal appearance determines impact – both internally and externally. Platforms such as LinkedIn offer the opportunity to make leadership tangible, to show attitude, and to communicate directly with relevant target groups – without detours, without PR filters. With experience from advising over 300 board members – from medium-sized companies to DAX-listed corporations – Marina shows how leaders sharpen their brand, take a targeted stance, and build trust. After all, those at the top cannot remain invisible. CEO branding is not an image project – it is leadership with impact.

The future of the brain lies in our habits.
Dementia is not an inevitable prediction for the future. New findings from the Lancet Commission show that up to 45% of the risk of dementia is determined by factors that can be influenced. The lecture highlights the 14 key risk factors and explains how healthy habits – from exercise and nutrition to mental activity and social participation – can protect our brains throughout our entire lives. It becomes clear that prevention does not begin in old age, but at every stage of life. Listeners receive concrete, everyday ideas on how they and their community can contribute to a dementia-healthier future.

Jimmy Carter and the other America | PLZ45
Jimmy Carter and the other America | PLZ45
Jimmy Carter was the 39th president of the United States from 1977 to 1981 and is considered by many to be an unlucky, failed transitional president and peanut farmer from backward Georgia. But he was much more than that and today, more than ever, he stands for a different America. Carter founded the Carter Foundation in 1982, was certainly the best former President of the United States, and rightly received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. But even during his term in office, he left a lasting mark with the Camp David Accords, the Panama Treaty, and the SALT II Agreement. As a Christian, humanist, environmental activist, human rights activist, and peacemaker who always felt committed to the truth, he stands for a different America.
