StartUps and digitalization
Digitization means more than digitally mapping analogue processes. Networking opens up new opportunities. Collaboration with start-ups – which, alongside our SMEs, are the drivers of our economy – opens up countless opportunities for established companies to scale their business. Young companies in particular need to be given opportunities, and this collaboration works. For all of us. Jörg Gudat reports on how this can be successfully achieved using a wide range of implemented projects.

Raw material consumption, ecological footprint and species extinction under the microscope
Is humanity’s consumption of raw materials too high? Is the ecological footprint exceeding planetary boundaries? How serious is the extinction of species?
With these three key questions, the lecture shows by way of example that the image conveyed by the media on sustainability issues should often be treated with great caution. Based on the latest global data and research results, the actual situation regarding these problems is outlined on the one hand and the expected development in this century on the other. At the end, the lecture will give a brief overview of the entire spectrum of (ecological) sustainability.
The lecture lasts approx. 30 minutes, but can be shortened or extended as required.

25 years of community service projects of the RC Donauwörth in India
RC Donauwörth’s activities in India began 25 years ago. A friend who was traveling there privately saw the plight of the children and decided to make helping the children in India the focus of his upcoming presidential year. So, with the support of friends from Donauwörth, first a children’s home was built in southern India, then a school, and then a foundation for an orphanage. From 2000 onwards, the RC Donauwörth was instrumental in setting up a completely new branch of the Sisters of Charity order, the expansion of which has kept the club under its spell to this day. The lecture tells of this exciting time with many fascinating pictures.

Bild: Robert Ebner

The RC Club Donauwörth has been active in aid projects in India since 1995. Since then, numerous community service projects have been realized together with the order of the “Sisters of Charity”. As President in 2001/2002, Robert Ebner himself was part of the club’s activities in South India. To mark the 50th anniversary of RC Donauwörth, the best pictures of all the projects and the numerous club trips to India were compiled for a presentation. It shows how big dreams can become reality with the help of Rotary and also offers exciting insights into everyday life in India.

The wonderful diversity of Rotary – visiting 250 Rotary clubs in 24 countries around the world
As a former manager of a large international pharmacy who loves to travel, Klaus Fehske has used professional and private occasions over the last 30 years to visit 250 Rotary clubs – at home and, above all, abroad in 24 countries around the world. He is still fascinated by the wide range of activities, the atmosphere, the hospitality, the cost of food, the length of presidency, the clothing, the meaning of a PHF medal, the connection to other clubs, etc. With this lecture, which he has now given to 12 Rotary and Rotaract clubs, Klaus Fehske would also like to encourage others to take advantage of this unique opportunity offered by Rotary, especially to be accepted as a friend abroad.
