The (material) song of the bell | PLZ39

Daher sind in seinem vielleicht Materials science with Friedrich Schiller

Schiller came into contact with the craft of bell casting as a schoolboy, as the son of a Ludwigsburg bell founder was Schiller’s classmate at the Latin school and the Schiller family lived just a few houses away from the foundry. This is why his perhaps best-known work “Das Lied von der Glocke” contains many references to the material challenges involved in casting bells. The lecture is dedicated to these references hidden in the poem from the perspective of a professor of metallic materials.
