Jimmy Carter and the other America | PLZ45

Jimmy Carter was the 39th president of the United States from 1977 to 1981 and is considered by many to be an unlucky, failed transitional president and peanut farmer from backward Georgia. But he was much more than that and today, more than ever, he stands for a different America. Carter founded the Carter Foundation in 1982, was certainly the best former President of the United States, and rightly received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. But even during his term in office, he left a lasting mark with the Camp David Accords, the Panama Treaty, and the SALT II Agreement. As a Christian, humanist, environmental activist, human rights activist, and peacemaker who always felt committed to the truth, he stands for a different America.
