Climate-neutral Rotary Clubs in District 1880 | PLZ90

Based on the experience of our club, an initiative for district-wide climate neutrality in cooperation with the Green Belt will be presented.

It is about: Calculating C02 emissions through our Rotarian activities (about 12 tons of CO2 per year) – ideas and measures for reduction (example club travel by train) – and offsetting, which amounts to €360 per club per year – generously calculated at €10 per Rotarian per year. Above all, it is about compensation projects – be it in countries of the South (efficient stoves for Rwanda) – but in the future it will be about regional and Rotarian projects: in our district about climate-effective projects within the framework of the “Green Belt”.

Dr. Ralf Hardenberg (RC Nuremberg Connect) is an internist, was Chief Physician of Internal Medicine and Medical Director of the St. Elisabeth Hospital in Damme and most recently an employed gastroenterologist in Nuremberg. He was President of RC Vechta and is Secretary and Climate Officer of RC Nuremberg Connect, which became climate-neutral in 2022/23 during Andrea Strasser’s year as President. Ralf Hardenberg is an author. His children’s play “Schluss mit Plastik” premiered at the Mummpitztheater in Nuremberg in July 2023.
