The lecture will use both available empirical data and conceptual arguments to support the thesis that the history of humanity does not unfold by chance, but is underpinned by a certain regularity; in other words, it follows a specific trajectory. On this basis, the lecture will explore what we can say about the future today, and why we have every reason to predict that humanity has a bright future ahead.

Dr Thomas Unnerstall (RC Frankfurt Airport) is an international consultant and author. He studied physics, mathematics and philosophy in Germany and the USA. After completing his PhD in physics, he initially worked at the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Environment and then spent over 20 years in senior roles within the energy sector. His latest books: “Understanding the Energy Transition” (Springer, 2018), “Fact-Checking Sustainability” (Springer, 2021) and “Our Future Will Be Good (Most Likely)” (Springer, 2026).
