Boarding school – Myth and truth | PLZ24

“Then we’ll send you to boarding school!” – Insight into the German boarding school landscape

From Salem to Louisenlund, from Birklehof to Landheim Ammersee, from St. Blasien to United World College – there are almost 300 boarding schools in Germany and at least as many stories about them. Some are true, but many are false or at least no longer true in this day and age. For example, children and young people today are less likely to be “sent to boarding school” (spoiler: that wouldn’t be so easy) than parents are more likely to “enable boarding school attendance” as in England.
The speaker gives an insight into a rather unknown part of education in Germany and reports on his many years of experience in and with German boarding schools.
